In the center of diagram, write in the memory you wish to examine.
In the first petal write any sensory experience when come to mind when you think about the memory. What smells, sounds, sights, or touch sensations come to mind?
In the next petal, write in your thoughts and beliefs about the event. What messages were told to you before, during, and after the event that you have incorporated into your own mind (your introjects)? What conclusions have you reached about the event? (For example: I believe it was my fault; I believe I am disturbing people as colored person; I believe I can never be safe, etc.)
In the next petal, record how your body reacted during the event. For example, did you freeze, run away, numb yourself, cry, pretend not to “hear”, etc.
In the fourth petal, write down any emotions that you can remember having. Were you terrified? Embarrassed? Shocked?
In the fifth petal, write down anything you wanted during the event. Did you want to just go away, or did you want “to attack” (verbal, non-verbal) the person back? Did you want to dissociate?
