Then the facilitator turns to the group to ask to raise their hand if:
They have ever unintentionally committed a micro-aggression? (No need to share the specific; the facilitator raises their hand too.)
The facilitator asks the group to think back to the most recent micro-aggression they have unintentionally committed. Try to picture the scene, what you were wearing, what you were doing seconds before, and then what you did. Then they ask the participants to discuss the following questions with the person seated next to them (10 minutes):
How did you realize that you unintentionally committed a micro-aggression?
What were you thinking or feeling when you realized you committed a micro-aggression?
How come your intention did not align with the impact of your behavior?
What have you learned from this experience?
What could you have done better with this new insight?
Now that you know more about micro-aggressions, what more information do you need in order process and learn when you have accidentally committed a micro-aggression? What could help you better in the future? Without requiring the target to solve this for you.
