Step 2: Breath Work

The facilitator guides the group through the box breath technique (5 minutes).  

If the facilitator is unfamiliar with this technique, please review the following article. Ask the participants to close their eyes and breathe (in and out) through their nose. Use calming, stress-relieving music (available on YouTube, Spotify, etc.) and use a soothing voice to guide the group. 

Four times 

  1. Breathe in for 4 seconds 
  2. Hold for 4 seconds 
  3. Breathe out for 4 seconds 
  4. Hold for 4 seconds  

Two times 

  1. Breathe in for 6 seconds 
  2. Hold for 6 seconds 
  3. Breathe out for 6 seconds 
  4. Hold for 6 seconds
