Step 5: Discussion and Reflection

The discussion should cover the previous stages in steps 2 and 3. Participants should present their choices and newly rewritten messages. If the exercise took place in a large group, the leader of each of the subgroups should present the results or the agreements between the members.

In the second step, the discussion focuses on the answers from step four. The facilitator can meaningfully group them in an all-visible thought pattern on the board or flip chart.  If the activity took place in subgroups, the answers will be based on their already-made findings or coordination between members. The facilitator just transfers them on a flipchart visible to everyone.

Reflection:

  • What new things did you learn during the exercise?
  • How much attention do you pay to the meaning of words in mutual communication and verbal/non-verbal messages?
  • What thoughts and feelings did you have during the exercise itself? How did the exercise affect you?
  • What message will the exercise bring to your life?
  • What new things have you learned and how will you put it into action?
