Environmental micro-aggressions refers to the demeaning and threatening social, educational, heritage, historical, political or economic cues that are communicated individual, institutionally or societally to marginalized groups (all deans are men and white – excluding women or people of colour from executive positions; or exclusion of Roma language literature in library, although literature in the language of other nationalities in the country is represented). Environmental exclusion is one time of micro-aggression.
Example: If someoneĀ“s racial identity is minimized or made insignificant by excluding decorations, literature, or depictions of people that represent their racial group.
